Chanel: Kaiser Karl staged this week's spring 2010 show under a barn roof erected over bails of hay. In the Grand Palais no less! How primitive, n'est pas?! Lily Allen performed in front of a starry front row- Prince himself applauded the impromptu entertainment during the show as Chanel-clad models danced the doo-wop next to Allen's band. Flowery short dresses were hit or miss- a few of the designs were not in the most flattering shape- with the thickening at the waist. Even the most emanciated models looked a little too large for such an industry. I was really confused with some of the handbags- one of them identical to a messy bird's nest.It may be blasphemy but in my amateur opinion, the clogs were an epic fail. The cardigans and jackets are the strongest pieces of the collection- cropped, white with shoulder emphasis. A fresh take on the boyfriend style blazer was shown in a knit! The belts were great as well- black and white. A few of the baby-doll dresses were spot on, minus the clogs and the bird's nest bag. I just think Lagerfeld's collection missed the mark.
Alexander McQueen: Kaleidoscope of pattern, reminiscent of winged birds or the detailing of the wings of a butterfly. Even pale-faced porcelain dolls come to mind. Stiffened hair severely pointed towards the sky apologetically. Every look was fierce, fierce, FIERCE! The shoes were the biggest showstoppers, it was almost unfathomable that none of the models took a tumble- it was quite obvious that the gaze of the spectators were partly shifted down towards the feet. Check out Orillia, Ontario's own model de la minute Amanda Laine rocking McQueen's runway in the yellow/orange/gold number.
Stella McCartney: Masculine Femininity was the stand-out theme. However, with Stella this is almost always what she is going for. The collection was predictable with some elements of surprise- the ruffles are what did it for my fashionably focused eye. Tops in vibrant hues of purple bore ruffles all the way up to the shoulders. Ever-inspired by the elegant Linda, her late mother, Stella's blazers and more masculine influences are what I look forward to every time. Blush tones and jewel tones such as the sapphire blues complimented each other beautifully. My personal style icon, Mrs. Chris Martin, a.k.a. Gwyneth Paltrow was sitting pretty beside Sir Paul, ogling her BFF's cohesive line, picking out future ensembles no doubt. Check out my favourite looks below.
Galliano for Dior: J'adore Dior!! SASSY trenches, short and sweet hemlines! I see London, I see France! Some red carpet-worthy gowns that celebs will surely swoon over. We were given seductive peeks under see-through fabrics, silk and satin. Ultra feminine lace slips, overlays and blouses dominated and intrigued. Stark red lips and softly curled locks channeled the always classic Hollywood glamour. Lace socks even graced the catwalk- so delicate and girly.

I have to say, even though I'm a longstanding fan of Valentino and Dior, my favorite shows were McCartney and McQueen.
