Models seeing red, Marc Jacobs gets Lifetime Achievement Award (at only 48...), Gaga shocks and awes again and the young duo behind Proenza Schouler get the recognition they deserve. Here are my picks for best dressed:
Alessandra Ambrosio with Prabal Gurung
Karlie Kloss with Jason Wu
My fave VS Angel, Doutzen Kroes in J. Mendel
Liv Tyler in Proenza Schouler. The young, American design duo Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez took home the womenswear designer of the year award. Just last week, the pair visited The Bay in Toronto to launch the arrival of their label to The Room. I have absolutely loved their designs forever!
Props for Chloe Sevigny who is always ahead of the trend in a design of her own line, Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony. Love the hard edge leather eyelet cut-outs juxtaposed with the cotton eyelet on the hem of the pencil skirt. This is a perfect example of thinking outside of the box when it comes to fashion and pairing textures, designs together unexpectedly. Sevigny has always been forward in her fashion thinking. Definitely an appropriate look to see on the purple carpet of an awards ceremony celebrating achievements as well as the future of fashion.
Winner of the Fashion Icon Award, Lady Gaga made yet another statement in Mugler.
Marc Jacobs- in the spotlight as recipient of the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. Here, the creative head of Louis Vuitton and his own wildly successful brand poses with his friend and muse
Sophia Coppola.
